Microsoft Silverlight: first impressions

Well there it is. The Zune of Flash!

Ok so according to Techcrunch (two articles written), this thing beats Flash/Flex: big time.

to quote them:

Silverlight will be the platform of choice for developers who build rich Internet applications. It makes Flash/Flex look like an absolute toy.

Oh my! Here goes my job, my income and my future down the toilet?

After a rather slow 10MB download of their plug-in, I got this:

Silverlight failed to mount
I tried many times and in different ways. I can’t get the bastard to mount!

I think my skills are still safe, for now ;)

Let me know if you run into the same issue… I’d like to know your thoughts as well on the Techcrunch / Microsoft relationship in this.

PS: how much does Techcrunch gets paid by Microsoft to rub their cock like that? Is it about future openings? Cause they got their little invite?
